Cruisin' with gay men

Wow! What a week we had onboard the Pride of Hawaii. I had so much fun on the “gay cruise” I am considering working for the Atlantis company. I put “gay cruise” in quotes, because we were advised prior to the cruise that we weren’t supposed to refer to the cruise as the “gay cruise,” but you know that we all did. Ha!

If I didn’t clue you in on this week, we had nearly 2,200 gay and lesbian passengers onboard for 7 days straight cruising with us. Atlantis, the company that charters ships and resorts for the gay and lesbian population, chartered our ship for one week and tore it apart.

This week topped one of the best weeks since I’ve been working with Norwegian Cruise Lines, which has been for nearly one year…crazy to think I’ve been cruising for almost one year…yikes! And I worked some hideous hours this week too! During this 7-Day spectacular, I had the chance to meet some famous faces including comedian, Alec Mapa, Deborah Cox, Andie MacDowell (the original “Annie”), Eddie (an infamous drag queen) and Miss Richfield (a drag queen that one the 1981 Miss Richfield pageant in Minnesota). We had fabulous passengers…I heard the least complaints and several compliments. These guys and very few gals were so happy and appreciative of our work for them. We had some of our highest ratings from this week.

As for the entertainment during this week, Atlantis brought on laser lights, fog machines, concert-style stereo equipment and decorations to transform our pool deck into a club atmosphere. Every night we had a “tea party” on the pool deck from 5pm-7pm and then afterwards we’d begin decorating the pool deck for the “main event” party which began at 11pm. We hosted parties like Dog Tag (a camouflage party), 70s, White Party (this was the very last party…which was the epitome of all parties that week), Pua’s Playground (Hawaiian Style), Mardi Gras and Favorite Divas. The guests really got into these parties. Some were dressed so elaborately…and some were BAREly dressed at all. These parties would go well into the wee hours of the morning…and then the parties would move into our night club around 5am and the party would continue until 8am. It was absolute madness.

Not only was the pool deck packed with people for the parties, but during the days…it was jammed with physically fit men with very small spandex shorts or Speedos. I think I saw the most Speedos I’ve ever seen in one sitting…but I’m not complaining there was a lot of eye candy! It was just too sad to think that I had no pull with those guys…boo!

Check out some of the pictures from this crazy week.
